When people think of the term villain, they usually associate it with evil context or a “bad guy” in a book, show or film. Although this may be the case now, the word villain once had another meaning. The Oxford Dictionary defines villain as a character whose evil actions or motives are important to the plot and the person or thing responsible for specified trouble, harm, or damage. The term villain used to refer to a farm laborer, which the Oxford Dictionary defines as person doing unskilled manual work on a farm.
