Return to: Group One
Women's suffrage was a movement that was introduced in the last century. It was an ongoing struggle of women trying to obtain the right to vote which would later lead to other political freedoms. There were many organizations and groups that joined together and helped women rise above the restraints held against them. The women's suffrage right was given with the ratification of the 19th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. Women's suffrage is now commonly referred to as feminism, though the term has evolved since the movement ended in the early 20th century.
